Horrible scenes: Loftus-Cheek sufferes a devastating head injury

Reading Time: 2min | Mon. 23.02.26. | 11:14

The former Chelsea midfielder, now at Milan, collided with Parma's keeper. He suffered a fracture of the alveolar bone and lost some teeth

The defeat hurt. The injury stunned.

Milan's 1-0 loss to Parma was already a damaging setback in the title race, but the sight of Ruben Loftus-Cheek being stretchered off in a neck brace turned frustration into genuine concern at San Siro.

The England international went down early after a collision with Parma's goalkeeper, and the stadium fell quiet. Within minutes, he was immobilised and carried off, visibly shaken. He was transported directly to the hospital, where the diagnosis confirmed the worst fears.

According to Sky Sport's Peppe Di Stefano, Loftus-Cheek has suffered a jaw fracture and lost several teeth. He will also have to undergo a serious surgery today.

No timeline has been set, and given the nature of the fracture, caution will dictate the next steps. A lengthy absence is a very real possibility that could significantly affect Loftus-Cheek's chances of making England's World Cup squad, which starts in June.

He made his first England appearance in seven years when he came on as a substitute against Wales in October 2025, having been recalled by manager Thomas Tuchel.
