FKF PL side wants FIFA to stop Odhiambo from working at Biashara

Immediate former Kakamega Homeboyz assistant coach Patrick Odhiambo risks losing his job at Biashara United after the former moved to FIFA through Football Kenya Federation (FKF) seeking orders to have the Tanzanian club release him.

Odhiambo who joined Homeboyz in January after cutting ties with Gor Mahia was unveiled at the Tanzanian Premier League side last week on two-year contract.

However, Homeboyz moved to protest the transfer saying that the former Sony Sugar tactician contravened the exit clause in his contract leaving the club to seek assistance at Zurich through Kandanda House.

According to their Chief Executive Officer Bernard Shitiabayi, Homeboyz want the global body order Biashara United to immediately release him.

He is in breach of his contract which demands him to give a month notice before taking up employment elsewhere. He left without our blessings yet we had paid him his sign on fee and his salary. Through FKF, we want FIFA to direct Biashara to release him immediately since he is our asset,” he said.

Shitiabayi confirmed that the soft spoken gaffer will be subjected to disciplinary actions should Zurich rule in their favor. He said they did not have plans of hiring a new assistant until the matter is resolved.

Of course he will be subjected to internal disciplinary actions as captured in his contract and constitution of the club. We have not thought of bringing in a new assistant until we successfully bring him back,” he added.

Odhiambo in a rebuttal insisted that he had issued the management with a notice before crossing the border.

I informed everyone at the club that I had secured employment elsewhere and even asked for their blessings before leaving. Even if Homeboyz honchos succeed, I am not willing to return to the club at all,” he said.
