The table toppers will be hoping to make it eight games without suffering defeat

Having failed to keep a clean sheet in the last seven games, Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Nicholas Muyoti is aiming to make his defense airtight when they take on Vihiga Bullets on Wednesday.

Abana Abeingo are high flying at the summit of the log after opening up an eight point lead following Nairobi City Stars 2-0 loss against Bidco United coupled with their 3-1 win over Posta Rangers over the weekend.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Mwalala revealed that he wants to solidify his defense after going a number of games without keeping a clean sheet with their attack winning them games by outscoring their opponents.

“When we get three goals, we usually get into the comfort zone and our opponents find their way back into the game. We have to try to be strong defensively after scoring goals because if you look at the number of clean sheets we have kept, it has been a long time, when we got to seven we haven’t improved on that number,” said Mwalala.

Bullets have improved after a torrid start to the season and are now five games unbeaten and picked up only their second win of the season that came in the 2-1 victory over FC Talanta.

Mwalala admitted that the clash against relegation-threatened Vihiga Bullets will be a fiendish one after Abdalla Juma changed their fortunes following his instalment as the head coach.

“It will be a tough game because since Juma Abdalla came into the team he has really improved the side, it will be a derby and we usually conduct most of our training in the same venue which means the players frequently meet. They are also looking to get out of the relegation zone which will make it even harder but we will go there to look for three points,” added Mwalala.
