GAIS manager Fredrik Holmberg took some wild celebration after they were promoted to the first tier, while his sibling Andreas, the boss of Degerfors, was relegated

Life can be cruel sometimes.

Life can be incredible sometimes.

Both those statements are factual, but it gets bizarre when those two collide for the representatives of the same family, for two brothers. On the same day.

And that's basically what happened to two Swedish siblings, Fredrik and Andreas Holmberg, whose fortunes were so drastically contrasted.

Fredrik, 44, the manager of the second-tier side GAIS, celebrated a 2-0 away win on the last matchday of the league, which sealed their promotion to elite.

Seconds after the final whistle, GAIS fans invaded the pitch, and the coach received wild praise from the ecstatic supporters. Inspired by a celebratory atmosphere, even Holmberg himself got his hands on the flares and other ultras' stuff, making it a night to remember.

"It's crazy! We said we'd travel together, and we've stuck up for each other!" he said in jubilation after GAIS's promotion to Allsvenskan.

On the other hand, however, his younger brother Andreas, 39, suffered a heartbreaking relegation from it. His side, Degerfors IF, drew against favourites and table-toppers Elfsborg 2-2 in the penultimate round, causing complete chaos on the top but dragging themselves straight to the second division. Therefore, Holmberg Jr. had to comfort his excruciated players after the final whistle.

Huh, life can teach you a lesson or two, especially if you're Holmberg.
