Hoffenheim boss uses sex toys for motivational team talks

The coaching job is probably not among the easiest in the world, and managers are known for using various methods to motivate their players and make the most of their squad.
Pushing the correct buttons is crucial in transforming a decent side into a winning one, and we've heard dozens of examples of how different renowned bosses used their charisma for that cause.
However, no one has ever reached the level of Hoffenheim's head coach, Christian Ilzer, who opted for quite an unconventional approach. According to German outlet Bild, the Bundesliga tactician used a sex toy in a bid to inspire his Hoffenheim players!?

The 47-year-old Austrian coach apparently flashed with a dildo in his attempt to show the players 'how hard' their team should be. Desiring 'manly strength', Ilzer presented a dildo and exclaimed: "You have to be just as hard as this dildo."
Moreover, ahead of their game against Freiburg in December 2024, Ilzer dressed as a chef and stirred an imaginary pot at their training ground, adding the ingredients his team required. He pulled out red chilli peppers to request 'more spice' in their game.
And have those methods paid off for the extravagant coach? Just four wins in 17 competitive matches this season prove that he should consider a more conservative approach.
In response to Bild's questioning of Ilzer's methods, the club said: "The basic rule at TSG is: what happens in the dressing room stays in the dressing room."
