High-flying Foden strikes twice for comeback victory against Man Utd

The Red Devils were in front thanks to Rahsford's remarkable opener, but they just couldn't hold on to it (3-1)

Andre Onana was unbelievable at the Etihad, making a few fantastic saves. Marcus Rashford scored one of the finest goals in his career for a shocking lead. Erling Haaland missed a sitter from two yards out. The Cityzens struggled to find the back of the net.

And despite all that, Manchester City brushed aside their rivals from downtown on Sunday night after coming from behind, 3-1.

Pep Guardiola's side was not having the best day in the office but still managed to grab an important derby win that keeps their (defending) titles alive. They dominated the game but conceded early against the run of play, as Rashford nailed it from mid-range spectacularly.

Onana caught a cross and launched a long ball down the pitch straight to Bruno Fernandes, whose back pass found dashing Rasfhord. The England international smashed it stunningly off the underside of the bar from about 25 yards out, and United were in front all of a sudden.

The hosts tried bouncing back shortly, but Onana was excellent between the sticks, making two saves to Foden's close-range efforts.

Not even Onana could save the Red Devils from Foden's assist to Haaland a bit later, though, but the Norwegian striker managed to put it over the bar despite being all alone in front of the empty net from only three yards out.

After going to the interval with a goal deficit, Pep's team returned from the locker room with an unmatched desire, which they capitalized on very soon. Foden had curled a superb shot past Onana, with the Cameroonian keeper not being the one to blame at all for conceding that.

That was just the start of a Foden-directed comeback, which saw the same player bursting away from Casemiro to score for City's lead. Last but not least, Haaland netted in the stoppage time to redeem himself after that first-half sitter.

The result means City moved to within a point of leaders Liverpool before next week's trip to Anfield.
