Kenyan youngster Henry Meja as completed a sensational move to Swedish giants AIK this evening after putting pen to paper to a five-year deal.

"I'm very happy to have this opportunity. AIK as a club suits me perfectly and I have got a great impression of everyone I have met. It's also fun to play with Erick (Otieno). Now I look forward to showing what I can to my teammates and the club's supporters." Meja is quoted as saying by the club's portal.

Meja broke into the limelight in late 2019 while playing in the famous offseason Cleo Malala Tournament in rural Kenya, in Mumias to be specific and was subsequently signed by Kenyan champions Tusker FC and boy did he grab the opportunity as he continued with his goal-scoring exploits for the Brewers.

AIK know too well that they have acquired a rough diamond which they aim to sharpen.

"Henry is a talented player that we hope to be able to refine under our direction. We have signed a long agreement where we want to work long-term and are well aware that it is a big process and a longer acclimatization period that awaits," the club's Sports Director Henrik Jurelius said.

Meja joins the team with immediate effect but will have to wait until early next year when the next Swedish transfer window opens to make his debut.
