Barcelona is happy to negotiate with the Pole to sign a two-year deal

When he signed a contract with Barcelona on October 2, Wojciech Szczesny came out of retirement to temporarily help the team until the end of the season. However, the Polish goalkeeper made a strong impression on Barcelona’s management, playing 16 matches across all competitions. As a result, his return to retirement is on hold—for now.

According to SER Catalunya, Szczesny is in negotiations with Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, regarding a new contract. Everything points to an agreement being reached, with a deal likely to be signed for one year plus an additional optional year. This means his commitment to the club could last until the end of the 2025/26 season, with the possibility of extending for another year.

All of this comes as a surprise, as Szczesny had already hung up his gloves in August after parting ways with Juventus. But then came a call from Catalonia—one he simply couldn’t refuse. Beyond his excellent goalkeeping skills, The Polish keeper has impressed people at Barcelona with his character. He has a positive influence on his teammates, maintains great relationships with everyone, and has an outstanding work ethic. An interesting statistic: Barcelona has not lost a single match with the Polish goalkeeper between the posts.
