Muyoti says Omondi is good enough for the national team.

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Nicholas Muyoti has lauded midfielder Francis Omondi and claimed that the player is good enough to be considered for the national team, Harambee Stars.

Omondi put in a good performance against Posta Rangers on Friday afternoon at Utalii Grounds as his side went on to register a 3-1 win over the Mailmen and in the process maintained their 100% second leg record.

The former Mathare United midfielder shielded his back four well, made a second-half goal-line clearance to deny Posta a second goal but it's one moment that stood out the most in the first stanza.

The midfielder picked up the ball in the middle of the park, raced down the left flank, he then left his marker on the left-wing on the floor cut in before he left another marker for the dead, he then squared the ball from which David Odhiambo was set up for his second goal and Homeboyz's third of the game that put the game beyond the host's reach.

It was a moment of sheer brilliance from the former Modern Coast Rangers midfielder but for Muyoti it was not even his best game in Homeboyz colors.

"This is not his best, he played his best game against Mathare United he is playing really well but let’s not forget that he is still young and there are some things that he is lacking but that's where I come in as a coach, I will fine-tune things," Muyoti told Mozzart Sport.

Muyoti went on to praise the player. According to him, Omondi is good enough to be considered for the national team.

"Let me not lie, he is a player who should be considered for the national team because is a quality player who I believe is good enough for play for Harambee Stars,” he added.

The tactician however understands that there is still work to be done before the combative midfielder can be considered a finished product.

We still need to polish him a bit, his tactical discipline. He's very comfortable on the ball, very confident and so we just need to work on his discipline because today he got a yellow card but he didn't play like a player who had gotten a yellow card and he risked a red, we had to take him off. But in terms of football he is very good, "he concluded.

His rise is a massive boost for Homeboyz who have been struggling to replace Moses Chikati who was last year slapped with a four-year ban over alleged match-fixing.
