The former Manchester player signed a two-year deal with the Red Devils
If we wanted to make a joke, we would say that current Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada, who was a high ranked official of rival Manchester City wanted to move attention from the news of the day – that Pep Guardiola is leaving City and announced Michael Carrick as the permanent manager. Two press releases from both clubs were issued in a matter of minutes from each other and today, the city of Manchester is in the headlines of the whole footballing world. The man who turned United’s season completely around, the man who instantly earned the trust of the players, the man under whom Manchester United quickly became a winning team again has officially signed his contract.

🇾🇪 We are delighted to announce Michael Carrick will continue as our head coach, having signed a new contract.
And how could you part ways with someone like that without giving him the chance to transform a giant club in the long run? Those at Old Trafford realized that Michael Carrick deserved a real opportunity, Jim Ratcliffe gave the green light, and today Carrick was officially unveiled as the man who signed a new contract with United — a deal running until 2028, with an option for an additional year.
“The responsibility of leading our special football club fills me with enormous pride. Over the past five months, this group of players has shown that it can reach the standards of resilience, unity, and determination that we demand here. Now is the time for us to move forward together again, with ambition and a clear goal. Manchester United and our incredible supporters deserve to compete for the biggest trophies once more” Carrick told the club’s official website.
Since taking over from Ruben Amorim in mid-January, Carrick has managed the team in 16 matches and recorded 11 wins. More than enough to make United the best team in the Premier League during the second half of the season and secure the English giant’s return to the Champions League. Just remember how United’s players have spoken about Carrick in recent weeks. Matheus Cunha said that Carrick brought “Fergie vibes” back to the Theatre of Dreams, while Kobbie Mainoo stated that the squad feels ready to “die” for their manager. If that’s not proof of the strong chemistry created in such a short time in the red half of Manchester, then what is?
