Qatar World Cup star has arrived at Manchester United headquarters
It was only a matter of days when Sofyan Amrabat would leave Fiorentina and sign for one of the European giants. True - it is only a loan, but it should come as a massive surprise if Manchester United do not buy the Moroccan out fully after the current season ends.
Amrabat revealed his brother Nordin had told him to move to the Premier League, which he labelled as the 'strongest league in the world'. Nordin Amrabat had played in the Premier League for Watford between 2016 and 2018.
Man United had been in tough negotiations with Fiorentina all summer to sign Amrabat, who had starred in Morocco's run to the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar. Fiorentina had been pushing for United to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent deal before eventually settling for a loan.
Manchester United's director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves flew to Italy in order to seal the deal for Amrabat. Amrabat had been targeted throughout the summer by Man United, while Liverpool and Atletico Madrid were also credited with an interest.
The Red Devils paid Fiorentina 9,300,000 euros to lure the Moroccan international on a season-long loan last week, on deadline day. The deal could be made permanent next summer for 24,400,000.
The player himself revealed Paul Scholes, Roy Keane and David Beckham were among the Man United stars he admired while growing up, after securing a loan move to the Premier League giants.
In his first interview at the club, Amrabat revealed he had been inspired by the Man United midfield stars.
'I think United had so many fantastic players and young midfielders,' Amrabat told the Man United club website.
'So, in general, I look more to the midfielders, like Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, David Beckham.
'But there were so many big players. Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Louis Saha, Wayne Rooney, [Cristiano] Ronaldo. I can go on for one hour to say names.'
Also, the 27-year-old revealed that he is proud of being Man United's first Moroccan player, joking that the club will have gained 'an extra million' fans with his arrival.
'I'm very proud,' Amrabat said. 'I think already a lot of Moroccans have followed already United, but now [there will be] a lot of extra million fans from Morocco.
'And they are so, so proud.
'I hope that I can make the fans for United and also them very, very happy and proud.'

Mahmoud El Boustati, Amrabat's agent, claimed the midfielder had rejected other offers during the summer to eventually seal a move to Man United.
'You had a dream that saw you playing under the lights in The Theatre of Dreams,’ El Boustati wrote on Instagram.
‘You put your trust in me to make that dream a reality, and for 15 years we have been on this journey together that has seen you grow from a young boy with raw talent and a passion for football, to the man you are today, a world class player.
‘After your performances at the World Cup, the biggest stage of all, the whole world was speaking your name.
‘We made it brother, a promise kept, a dream realised. The Theatre of Dreams awaits.’
The 27-year-old will wear the No 4 shirt at Old Trafford and could make his first appearance for his new club when Man United host Brighton at Old Trafford on September 16.
