It's Messi again!

In a thrilling and highly-anticipated awards ceremony held at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, the world's footballing community gathered to witness history as Lionel Messi, the Argentine superstar, was crowned the winner of the 2023 Ballon d'Or. This prestigious accolade marks his eighth Ballon d'Or title, reaffirming his status as one of the greatest footballers to ever grace the pitch.

The evening was filled with excitement and anticipation as the red carpet welcomed a host of footballing legends, current stars, and renowned coaches.

Messi, 36, succeeds Karim Benzema as the winner of the prize awarded for his performances last season when he inspired Argentina to glory at the World Cup.

The Argentina captain got a standing ovation as his wife and their three children beamed with pride.

"Above all I have to congratulate everyone who was nominated for this award. I have to share this award with my teammates and everything we achieved with the national team. The entire group, the coaching staff and everyone involved played their part in winning the World Cup. Hats off to Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Kevin De Bruyne for having fantastic seasons. Many of you are young and have achieved so much already. There's plenty of time left to be standing in my position. I'm delighted to be here once more to enjoy this moment one more time. I achieved my dream of winning the World Cup, but I share this with all those who were involved."
