Havertz:'I don't give a f**k' Tuchel: 'It can only get worse from now'

The German tactician outsmarted Guardiola for the third time in five months

Being the most expensive player in the history of such a wealthy club as Chelsea brings a lot of responsibility. The burdain on Kai Harvetz’s shoulders has been great this season, with the German only being able to score nine goals in his 45 appereances in all competition. Out of that 9, only one was scored in the Champions League. But it was the most important one – a winner in the finals against mighty Guardiola’s City.

So, it was logical that the „most expensive player“ tag has been brought up in the post match interveiw, but this time, Harvertz didn’t hold down and try to give some serious explanation.

„To be honest I don't give a f*** about it, we won the f****** Champions League“ said Havertz when asked if he felt he'd now repaid a big chunk of his 13.5 billion Ksh fee. He later used the Twitter to aplogise for the swearing, but the statement was already iconic by then.

„Incredible team, we deserved it. I waited a long time to score in the competition. I want to thank my family, my parents, my brother, my grandparents“ said the German.

Maybe Havertz didn’t have to waint long to win the most prestigious European competiton, since he only arrived to the club at the start of the season, but owner Roman Abramovic had to wait for 9 years since his first trophie, when the Blues defeted Bayern Munich on penalties, after it was 1-1 after 90 minutes. And now the Russian billionaire has lifted the trophie again.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta and Abramovich shared a warm embrace before The Spaniard, as captured by Chelsea's in-house media, said:

"It's yours. I don't know where the trophy is, but I'll bring it to you. Are you happy?"

With a big smile on his face, Abramovich replied: "Yeah, of course. Absolutely“.

Thomas Tuchel has also seen the owner but he didn’t have time to talk about his contract. The German tactician came in 2021 as a savior after the team went into a crisis mode and Frank Lampard was sacked, and it’s funny that a new Champions League was almost left without the Champions League spot in the last day of the Premier League, when the Blues lost against Aston Villa, only to see Tottenham’s win over Leicester brings them up the table.

„Maybe I have a new contract now with that win! My manager said something about that but I don't know so lets see. I spoke to the owner right now on the pitch, it was the best moment for a first meeting, or the worst because from now on it can only get worse. We will speak tomorrow, we will speak later. That I feel absolutely happy as a part of a really ambitious club, a strong group that suits my beliefs, my passion about football in the moment perfectly, so my desire is to go for more victories“ said Tuchel.

The German has certainly deserved a new contract, since he managed to get the most out of this team, without any new signings and with only being four months in the club. Tuchel also managed to outsmart and defeat league’s best team and the best manager, Pep Guardiola, for the third time in five months. Guardiola’s lack of a defensive midfielder in the finals hurt his side badly in the opening hour of the game. Neither Rodri nor Fernandinho started and Chelsea took advantage - mainly through Kai Havertz. The German had played only 11 minutes against City so far this season in three games and was a bit of an unknown quantity. City’s defenders Ruben Dias and John Stones, couldn’t handle him. Tuchel for a third time got his selection and tactics spit on. They pushed City back, didn’t allow them to get out easily and the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling had no time at all to play on the half turn.
