Kamau did not have much impact during his time at Victory.

Harambee Stars prospect Bruce Kamau is set to rejoin his Greek club, Ofi Crete, after his loan deal at Melbourne Victory expired.

The winger had signed for Victory in January from Crete on a loan deal until the end of the 2023 season with the hope of a permanent deal, but after its conclusion, he was let go by the club.

His stay at the club did not go as he would have wished, as he was reduced to a peripheral figure in the squad, mostly featuring as a sub off the bench. Also leaving is Paraguayan forward Fernado Romero, who was on loan at the club from his country side, Club Cerro Porteo.

Melbourne Victory statement

Melbourne Victory can confirm that forwards Fernando Romero and Bruce Kamau will depart the club after the completion of their current loan periods.

The duo joined Victory in the January transfer window, with Romero scoring two goals in his ten-match stint and Kamau making nine appearances in his time at the club.

Both players will return to their respective parent clubs. Melbourne Victory would like to thank Fernando and Bruce for their contributions and wish them the best for the future.

Kamau was born in Kenya before his family moved to Australia, where he kicked off his football career. He started out at Adelide Olympic in 2012 before joining Adelide United two years later. Melbourne City then came for him after two years with the club; three years later, he moved to Western Sydney Wanderers before landing in Greece three years later.

He has featured for the Australia U23 team and has made it clear that he wants to represent the Socceroos at the international stage, but at 28, his chances are fast diminishing.
