Harambee Stars return to action this evening with a World Cup qualification match against the Seychelles that will be played in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Kenya lost the opening qualification match 2-1 to Gabon on Thursday, while on Friday evening, the Seychelles went 9-0 to the Ivory Coast, and both teams head into the game seeking their first win in Group F.
Mozzart Sport looks at how the Stars could line up against the islanders, who will also be keen on causing an upset.
Patrick Matasi: He regained his place between the posts following Byrne Omondi’s injury. He started against Gabon and can’t be faulted for any of the two goals conceded. He is likely to retain his place between the posts.
Amos Nondi- Primarily a midfielder, Nondi gets utilized as a right-back in the national team set-up. He struggled against Gabon but will most likely retain his position on the right side of the backline.
Dennis Ng'ang'a-He made his debut against Gabon and did not look out of place. He will certainly retain his place at the back.
Johnstone Omurwa- He was at fault for the first goal against Gabon, but being dropped is not an option at this point. He formed what was largely a good centre-back pairing with his former Wazito FC teammate Dennis Ng’ang’a against Gabon.
Erick Ouma-He has recovered from the injury that saw him miss the game against Gabon. If fully fit, he will start; if not, then Abud Omar could get the node.
Richard Odada-He is Kenya’s first-choice defensive midfielder right now, and he will certainly be tasked with screening the back four.
Teddy Akumu- Firat’s preference to play with a double pivot is certainly set to earn Akumu a place in midfield. He will continue with his partnership with Akumu.
Duke Abuya - struggled against Gabon before he was replaced by Abuya in the 68th minute. The Singida Fountain Gate man looked assured when he came on, and he could just get the node on Monday evening.
Rooney Onyango- He is utilized as a winger on the national team, and the Gor Mahia man does not look out of place. His work ethic is fast, making him the coach’s favorite, and he is certainly set to start on Monday.
Masoud Juma-He scored against Gabon on Thursday, and that should earn him a starting berth in the squad.
Michael Olunga-Coach Firat has made it clear that he is undroppable, and he is expected to lead the line against the Seychelles.
