Abuya enjoyed an influential December, featuring in both league fixtures Yanga played before the competition paused to allow the Tanzania national team to participate in the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Despite the limited number of matches, the former Kenya Police FC and Kariobangi Sharks midfielder made solid impact.
During the period, Abuya registered two assists, playing a pivotal role in Yanga’s 2-0 victory over Fountain Gate FC and their 1-0 win against Coastal Union.
The contributions ensured the 31-time champions collected maximum points from both encounters, closing the year unbeaten and reinforcing their title credentials.
His most impressive display came on 4 December against Fountain Gate, where Abuya delivered a commanding all-round performance that earned him the man of the match award.
As part of the recognition, the Kenyan international is set to receive a personalised trophy and a cash reward of Tshs 1 million, approximately Kshs 52,000 (US$400).
“Duke Abuya is the best player for December 2025,” Yanga posted while announcing the award.
It was a memorable month for the Dar es Salaam giants, as Abuya’s success was complemented by tactician Pedro Gonçalves, who also walked away with the coach of the month honour, completing a double celebration for the club.
Abuya has since carried his fine form into the new year, getting on the scoresheet as Yanga thrashed Mashujaa 6-0, a result that propelled them to second place on the 16-team league standings with 19 points.
They now sit just one point behind leaders JKT Tanzania, who have 20 points but with four matches in hand.
