The team is still coach-less following the exit of Firat last year

Harambee Stars have dropped a place on the January’s FIFA standing released on Thursday. Stars were initially ranked 102 on the global log but sunk a place deeper for the time international football has been on a break.

Stars were last in action in November last year where they beat Rwanda 2-1 in a 2022 World Cup final group stage qualifier match staged at Nyayo Stadium.

The match was the last for coach Engin Firat who returned home days later following the expiry of his contract and with the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers fast approaching, it is yet unclear on who will be appointed to succeed him.

Uganda ranks top in as far as the CECAFA region is concerned as Cranes are 84th. Tanzania are on position 132 with Sudan breathing behind their backs. Rwanda are placed 136 just two places above Ethiopia and five clear of Burundi.

Recently crowned African champions Senegal are placed 18th with the losing finalists Egypt ranking 34th. Belgium sit at the apex of the log with Brazil coming in second. World champions France are third while Argentina and England sit fourth and fifth respectively.
