The 2026 World Cup qualifier will kick off at 1900 Hours EAT and will be live on FIFA+

In a pre-match press conference following Harambee Stars' first training session at the Stade de Franceville on Tuesday evening, Michael Olunga, the captain of the Kenyan national football team, expressed confidence and optimism ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Gabon.

"Of course, we know they are a good side. They will be playing at home with great support, but we have prepared well, and the boys are ready for the game," Olunga remarked, acknowledging the challenge that lies ahead.

The captain highlighted the importance of the team's preparation, emphasizing the positive atmosphere within the squad. "We had good friendlies, and the mood within the team is perfect. We know it will be a tough game, but we have to play such matches if we are to qualify," Olunga stated, underscoring the significance of testing themselves against formidable opponents. Kenya played high profile friendlies ahead of this game, beating Qatar 2-1 in Doha and holding Russia to an exciting two-all draw in Turkey.

As Kenya faces Gabon in their quest for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Olunga reassured fans that the team is determined to give their best on the field. "We will give it our best and hope to make Kenyans proud," he declared, emphasizing the players' commitment to representing their nation with pride and dedication.
