A journalist asked him if he would rather take a rest in January...
Despite dozens, even hundreds of impeccable African players in Europe in the last couple of decades, attitude towards Africa and its football hasn't changed enough. It suffers from a lack of respect and equal criteria that is still visible.
So, it's no surprise to see reactions like the one coming from the Ivory Coast striker Sebastian Haller, a former West Ham United forward and current Ajax Amsterdam star.
One Dutch journalist asked him if he prefers to stay in a club in January or represent his country at the upcoming AFCON?
Haller's response was brutal and as straightforward as it gets:
"This question shows all the lack of respect you have for Africa! Would you ask this question to a European player before a EURO?! Of course, I will go and play this tournament."
Haller's performances this season have been second to none. He has scored as many as 12 goals for the Johan Cruyff Arena's outfit in 17 appearances and has been his side's most formidable player along with Serbian playmaker Dusan Tadic.
Ivory Coast will play in Group E alongside Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone and Algeria.
