Gunners who 'kill' their ex-EPL darlings
Reading Time: 2min | Fri. 31.10.25. | 18:27
Mikel Merino, Declan Rice, and Eberechi Eze all scored against their former clubs in the current Premier League campaign. Should Brighton, Man City, Brentford, and Chelsea be worried?
After many, many years, Arsenal finally look like a team capable of winning the Premier League. After all, the North London side tops the EPL with a four-point advantage over the first chasing crew, Bournemouth.
Furthermore, Mikel Arteta's team seem ruthless, in general, since they barely gave their rivals a chance, conceding only three goals in nine rounds. However, if one thing could show the Gunners' mercilessness, it's their players' complete lack of empathy for their former clubs.
Mikel Merino scored a late leveller against Newcastle (where he spent one season on loan from Borussia Dortmund), Declan Rice broke the deadlock against his boyhood club, West Ham, while Eberechi Eze netted a winner against Crystal Palace, whose player he was until two months ago.

This trend could have continued against Man City as well, but the ex-Cityzens' member in Arsenal's ranks, Gabriel Jesus, was sidelined at the time the two sides met in September. Nevertheless, if the Brazilian stays at Emirates and gets a chance to face the Etihad crew, it would be no wonder if he scored.
Apart from Pep Guardiola's team, Brighton, Brentford, and Chelsea should be worried, too, as their former players also wear the Gunners' colours.
Ben White and Leandro Trossard will have an opportunity to "kill" the Seagulls four days before New Year's Eve, Christian Norgaard will lock horns with his Bees - whom he captained - on December 3, while Noni Madueke and Kai Havertz (if they recover from knee injuries in time) can threaten Chelsea three days earlier.
Either way, probably all Premier League sides should beware of Arsenal at the moment, as the capital crew seems more ready than ever to "break the curse" and win the EPL for the first time since 2004.
