The former Germany international signed for Galatasaray on the last day

Galatasaray “set Istanbul on fire” and sparked hysteria in the city similar to when Leroy Sane landed at the airport this June and a bit later Victor Osimhen, because they managed to sign Ilkay Gündogan on the last day of transfer window. Back when he had grown tired of Barcelona, when he expressed his desire to leave before rejoining Manchester City, Dursun Ozbek, the president of the Turkish club, expressed his wish to bring Ilkay Gundogan to the foot of the Galata Tower. He didn’t succeed then, but now it happened.

Manchester City has given the “green light”; the English club had no objections and Gundogan decided to leave Manchester again. There is a reshuffle in Pep Guardiola’s team and the German knows he won’t play much, so he decided to leave and be treated like a king in a country of his origin. He will earn 5,000,000 euros per year during his stay on the Bosphorus. The contract will be for two years plus an optional third.

During this long transfer window, Galatasaray spent more than 120,000,000 euros and strengthened the squad with Victor Osimhen, Leroy Sané, Ismail Jakobs, Wilfried Singo, and Przemysław Frankowski. The arrival of Ilkay Gündogan is a whole new dimension.

Coming to Galatasaray is the fulfillment of a childhood dream. I have always imagined myself playing in this jersey, I dreamed of it when I was little. I cannot describe the happiness I feel. For me and my family, this club is a source of great joy and pride” said Gundogan upon arrival.
