The Dortmund striker guarantees goals, but only seven clubs can trigger his release clause
Serhou Guirassy was one of the hottest transfer targets in the last transfer window - and he could be just as coveted next year.
The Dortmund striker doesn't just promise goals; his release clause makes him especially attractive to a handful of Europe's elite clubs.
According to Sky Sports Germany, Guirassy's contract includes a €50 million buyout clause. While the clause has been known for some time, Sky Germany has now revealed its specifics - and they are intriguing.
The clause applies only to seven clubs, not everyone. In Spain, it covers Barcelona and Real Madrid, while in England, it includes Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
These clubs could trigger the clause next year - but not in January, as it only becomes active after the season ends! Any other club will have to negotiate with Dortmund and likely pay more than €50 million.
Barcelona might be the happiest of all. Bild reported in late September that the Catalans see Guirassy as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski. The 29-year-old striker, a former Stuttgart and Cologne forward, will base his future on Dortmund's performance. If the club cannot compete for trophies this season, Guirassy will consider a move, but only to a top-tier team, Sky Sports emphasizes.
A switch to Saudi Arabia is always an option, but the Guineian forward is not considering it. Last year, he rejected a €20 million annual salary from Al Hilal, preferring to fight for trophies. After all, he was the joint top scorer of the Champions League last season alongside Raphinha, with 13 goals.
Dortmund are aware of the risk of losing him and are already preparing for life without Guirassy. Their main target is Hoffenheim striker Aslani, but Bayern are also interested, making his signing far from simple.
This season, excluding the Club World Cup, Guirassy has played 17 matches, scored nine goals, and provided four assists - proving he remains one of Europe's most dangerous forwards.
