Guirassy omitted after CAF nomination, his brother furious

Despite great numbers, Dortmund's striker is not among the finalists for the title of best African player of the year
Ballon d‘Or has passed and unlike last season, after a Real Madrid‘s scandalous behavior, we didn‘t have such a drama. Ousmane Demebele and Lamine Yamal were the two clear favorites but results revealed that PSG forward won with the vast majority of votes and both players congratulated each other with no bad blook. Yamal‘s father later protested due to ‘injustice‘, but we cannot expect that any father in the world will be objective when it comes to his child. Now, we have another Ballon d‘Or coming up, but this time for Africa. And one relative is already complaining about one contestant. Or to be precise, the lack of candidate.

Ses statistiques lors de la saison 2024/2025 avec le Borussia Dortmund et la Guinée :

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed the three finalists for the title of best African player of the year. They are Achraf Hakimi (PSG), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), and Victor Osimhen. But, one name is missing – Dortmund‘s Serhou Guirassy. Guinea striker had a good 2024/25 season but somehow missed the nomination by CAF and that really annoys his brother and agent Karamba.
“A fu**ing shame. Top scorer in the Champions League, top scorer in the Club World Cup, top African scorer of the year 2025, 21st in the Ballon d'Or, nominated for the FIFA Best Forward award and second top scorer in the Bundesliga" he wrote on Instagram.
After moving from Stuttgart, Guirassy scored 38 goals in his first season with BVB, in 50 appearances across all competitions. 13 of those goals were scored in the Champions League, as he finished as joint top scorer with Raphinha. Last season, Ademola Lookman won the award, while Achraf Hakimi seems to be a clear favorite due to his exceptional season with PSG.
