Griezmann after 6-0 against Celtic: That is called respect

"We play until the end, we didn't want to nutmeg them and show disrespect", says the star of Atlético Madrid
Atlético Madrid are on fire. Diego Simeone's defensive machine is playing completely different football this season. In the championship, they scored more goals than Real and Barcelona - although not more than Girona - and in the fourth round of the Champions League, they also empathically defeated Celtic and are now very close to the Champions League round of 16.
The Scottish giants were pretty much 'sheep to slaughter' after Daizen Maeda's red card in the 23rd minute, after which Los Colchoneros scored five goals and won with a total of 6-0.
The double scorer Antoine Griezmann says that is a reflection of respect.
"That is respect. When you're trying to play, you do as much as you can, not fool around, no nutmegging and stuff like that. You have to keep playing like it's 0-0. The substitutes did a great job, Correa was excellent, he has to continue like this, because we have an important game on Saturday," Griezmann calmly answers, shifting the focus to the clash with Villarreal.
This one with Celtic will be remembered by the fans as it is Atlético's record win in the Champions League. The players probably won't remember it; it was that simple of a match.
Although, Griezmann's game seems to be a bit more simple and pulled back, as against Celtic he was placed in the midfield line and mostly operated on the left side of the field. A forced role, a player as intelligent as Antoine quickly adapted. He says: he studied by watching TV.
"Ultimately, it's a place where you have to intercept opponents' passes, deliver the ball to your attackers... Everything I need to do - I'm here. Whether it's attack, whether it's the proxy through midfield, I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing. I study by watching a lot of football on TV. Everything the club and Cholo need... You have to study. You pick up some tricks from other players. You can always be better".
Atlético were also lucky that Griezmann scored the first goal in the sixth minute. Or is it not luck at all?
"Until now, beginnings of games were a bit slow for us. We talked about it in the locker room, but in the end you have to go out on the field and show it. That's what we did today. Their red card gave us an advantage, greater peace of mind, but we have to continue", Griezmann concluded.
