Gor Mahia through their Secretary General Samuel Ochola has threatened to sue CAF ahead of a possible ban.

Faced with a possible ban from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Gor Mahia have threatened to move to court to avert a possible sanction by the African football governing body.

In a letter obtained by Mozzart Sport from the Gor Mahia Secretary General Samuel Ochola, the club made public their decision to challenge a possible ban in court.

This comes after Gor Mahia players allegedly confronted the referee after blowing the final whistle in protest for awarding a 94th-minute contentious penalty.

“On the reported possible ban by CAF for skirmishes mentioned, we are alert and will pursue all the legal avenues to address the matters that arose, since it was not our fault.”

“We didn’t just walk away from all these happenings, we sat down together with Zambian federation, our federation’s representative, head of our delegation (myself) and other stakeholders and we deliberated. We hope that nothing punitive would befall our team on this,” read the letter in part.

K’Ogalo players were aggrieved after Mosotho referee Lebalang Mokete called a number of decisions against them including failing to send off a Napsa Stars player after bringing Tito Okello down when he was the last man.

The players were livid after the referee pointed to the spot when Jimmy Mukeya was tackled by Charles Momanyi with replays showing that the former Kakamega Homboyz defender got the ball.

Ochola went on to thank the players for coming close to sealing a place in the group stages of the tournament and also spared a word to the fans.

“To our players who defied all the odds, we say thank you for your outstanding display, you made us proud and you stood tall at the hour of need……. Thank you so much, lets now focus on the league to make it 19 titles this season because we’ll be back to continental football after fixing our nagging problems, a mission we have embarked on today.”

“To our fans who have always stood with team, you are great and your concerns, prayers and support has been registered and action has begun to forestall future embarrassments and develop on our registered milestones,” added Ochola.

The club's Secretary-General went on to thank the Zambian football federation for good reception and unwavering support that ensured Gor got Covid-19 test clearance on time to honour the game after arriving two hours before the clash.
