K’Ogalo are set to face their eternal rivals AFC Leopards on Sunday, 26 April, in what will mark the 99th meeting between the two giants of Kenyan football.
The clash, scheduled for Nyayo National Stadium, is already shaping up to be one of the defining fixtures of the season.
In a bold show of support, Owalo, who previously served as Cabinet Secretary for ICT, has promised a Ksh 1,000,000 reward to Gor Mahia players, but with a clear condition that the bonus is strictly performance-based and will only be awarded in the event of a win.
Confirming the development through an official statement, Gor Mahia emphasized the intent behind the pledge, noting that it is designed to spur the players to deliver when it matters most.
“Gor Mahia Patron Eliud Owalo pledges to reward Gor players with Ksh 1 million if they win the upcoming derby match against AFC Leopards on Sunday; the Patron says the amount is a token aimed at motivating players and rewarding performance-based results,” the club posted on its social media platforms.
The timing of the incentive could hardly be more significant. With just two days remaining before the crunch encounter, the derby carries immense weight, not only in terms of pride, but also in the context of the title race.

Matches between these two sides have historically been fiercely contested, often decided by fine margins and moments of individual brilliance.
Gor Mahia head into the fixture perched at the summit of the 18-team league standings with 58 points, holding a slender three-point advantage over second-placed AFC Leopards, who trail on 55.
As such, Sunday’s encounter is widely viewed as a potential title decider, with the outcome likely to have far-reaching implications on the championship race.
For K’Ogalo, the match presents an opportunity for redemption following their first-leg setback.
In that earlier meeting, AFC Leopards emerged 1-0 victors courtesy of a decisive strike from Julius Masaba, a result that handed Ingwe early bragging rights in the season-long rivalry.
That defeat still lingers, and Gor Mahia will be keen to settle the score while tightening their grip at the top of the table.
A win would not only extend their lead to six points but also reaffirm their status as frontrunners for the title.
On the other hand, AFC Leopards approach the derby with ambitions of completing a rare double over their rivals.
Having already drawn first blood, Ingwe know that another victory would see them go joint top with Gor Mahia in the standings and inject fresh momentum into their title charge.
