Pamzo returns to the fold two weeks after leaving Posta Rangers
Gor Mahia have appointed immediate former Posta Rangers head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo as their new assistant coach.
The slot fell vacant in December last year after Patrick Odhiambo disappeared into thin air moments after returning from their Caf Champions League’s opening round first leg tie away to Algeria’s CR Belouizdad. Odhiambo has since taken up the assistant coach job at Kakamega Homeboyz, deputizing Nicholas Muyoti.
K'Ogalo briefly leased Pamzo’s services during their CAF Preliminary and First Round fixtures after their then head coach Roberto Oliveira was barred from sitting on the technical bench after his credentials fell short of the new requirements.
The club would later appoint Portuguese gaffer Carlos Vaz Pinto in January with their youth team head coach Jared Odongo serving as his assistant.
“Pamzo is our new assistant coach. He has signed a three-year-long contract with us and we expect him to board the plane when we leave to play Napsa Stars on Sunday,” said the club vice-chairman Francis Wasuna
Besides confirming the latest development, Wasuna cleared the air on the absence of experienced centre half Haron Shakava from the 22-man squad released for the return match in Lusaka.
Shakava returned to Gor Mahia two weeks ago after parting ways with Zambian champions Nkana FC. The administrator also shed light on why former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lordvick Aduda has been included in the travelling party to Lusaka at the expense of the current officeholder Raymond Oruo
“He had been registered as a Nkana player for the continental assignments and thus he is ineligible for the Napsa encounter. He can only don the Gor shirt in Caf matches should we advance to the group stages, however, he is registered for league matches. Aduda is not part of the executive but we had reasons to incorporate him into the entourage,” he said.
Gor will be seeking to register at least a 2-0 win Zambia to resuscitate their hopes of booking a slot in the group stages
