Goodison drama is forgotten for good as Reds take down Wolves

Reading Time: 2min | Sun. 16.02.25. | 18:55

Diaz and Salah make sure the league leaders get back on track, although the second half wasn't impressive at all for the table toppers (2-1)

After Arsenal's 2-0 away victory over Leicester City, the gap between the Gunners and Liverpool was reduced to only four points, and the drama was almost palpable.

However, Arne Slot's side managed to bounce back from that recent disappointing Goodison Park draw to top Wolves 2-1 on Sunday afternoon, thus restoring a seven-point lead.

They cleared the air surrounding Anfield even before the half-time interval. Luis Diaz opened the scoring at the 15th-minute mark for Liverpool's perfect start to the game with a tad bit of luck.

Diogo Jota kickstarted the counter, releasing Luis Diaz, who had found Mohamed Salah on the left-hand side. He then played a pass for the onrushing Diaz, and it ended in the back of the net after Toti Gomes' attempted clearance hit Diaz.

That was his ninth in the EPL this season. The Colombian forward made headlines again some 20 minutes later, as Wolves keeper Jose Sa knocked him in the box for a blatant penalty.

Who else than Salah converted it from the spot to make it 2-0. That was goal number 28 for the Egyptian forward.

The visitors managed to peg one back after the break through Matheus Cunha. He bent a fantastic effort into the far corner, capitalising on Wolves' much better performance in the second half.

It wasn't too pretty for the home fans, but Liverpool did what they needed to do to get this over the line.
