More experienced of two managers is coming back to his place of success, according to Italian media
The Old Lady of Torino almost had a season to forget. Winning Italian Cup and Super Cup is great but it is not the Champions League or the Scudetto.
The Bianconeri somehow managed to squeeze through and secure participation in the next campaign of Champions League, via last fixture of the Serie A season. All of those pieces of the equation are leading to an expected result - sacking of Andrea Pirlo and bringing a more experienced manager.
Juve need to play it safe to get back to the paths of glory and what is safer than a manager who filled the trophy cabinets at both Delle Alpi and the new Allianz Stadium?
According to reports in Italy, Juventus are set to re-sign Massimiliano Allegri as their tactician as Pirlo is extremely close to being sacked.
Allegri is understood to have grown impatient at waiting for Real Madrid, who have parted ways with Zinedine Zidane.
Allegri was reportedly holding out for the Madrid job but 'got sick of waiting' for the Spanish giants to act, despite Zidane leaving with immediate effect today.
On a similar note, Antonio Conte left his post at Inter Milan yesterday and Nerazzurri are also interested in hiring Allegri.
Conte was reportedly hoping to spend big this summer to retain the long-awaited Scudetto, but the Giuseppe Meazza club are feeling the effects of the Covid pandemic and are forced to sell a number of players which were crucial for Conte.
Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia report that the announcement between Juve and Allegri is just about to happen.
A verbal agreement between two sides has been agreed with an official announcement expected in the next 24 hours.
Allegri won five Serie A titles in a row, four Coppa Italia trophies and was twice a runner-up in the Champions League during his first spell at Juve from 2014-2019.
Pirlo's side were knocked out of the Champions League last-16 against Porto back in March which was a huge blow for the squad, especially Cristiano Ronaldo.
La Gazzetta dello Sport states that club president Andrea Agnelli offered a three-year deal to Allegri, with the option of a fourth, on a salary of between £7m-£7.7m a year. Juve are confident such a deal will persuade the 53-year-old to put pen to paper.
Allegri has also been linked with PSG since leaving Juve in 2019, but instead decided to continue his rest from management a bit longer.
While in calcio the famous “minestra riscaldata” of a manager returning to a club a 2nd time very rarely works out, it has for Juve in history. Carlo Parola, Giovanni Trapattoni, and Marcello Lippi all won something again after returning to Juve for 2nd stints.

Allegri managed AC Milan for three-and-a-half years before his first stint at Juve and led the Rosoneri to the 2010-11 Serie A title.
