Pep Guardiola's side was ruthless at Brugge (5-1) in the maiden game of tonight Champions League programme

A new kid is on the block.

Manchester City rushed tonight through Brugge with a 5-1 landslide victory embellished with Riyad Mahrez's brace and a superb debut goal coming from a teenager Cole Palmer.

Pep Guardiola's side was dominant right from the kick-off and cemented their away victory before the half-time break with 2-0 on a scoreboard. Cancelo opened the scoring 30 minutes into the game following Foden's cross, while Mahrez netted from the spot to eliminate any dilemmas of the outcome.

The hosts from Belgium struggled to bounce back, with the Citizens dominating the match. Very soon after the squads returned from the break, Walker killed the game, but the most significant part of the tie was yet to be seen.

Kevin De Bruyne left the turf 30 minutes before the final whistle and was subbed by Palmer, a versatile midfielder with the skills of a modern-day striker that emerged from City youth setups.

Only two minutes after he joined the game, Palmer netted his maiden UCL goal, following Sterling's assist. We should definitely remember this kid's name because he looks like a real gem in prospect.

Club Brugge, however, managed to score six minutes till the end before unplayable Mahrez bagged another one to conclude his team's astonishing performance with the fifth goal of the night.
