I hope Jurgen stays at Liverpool for many years, said Rangers manager

He brought his club a Scottish Premier League title after 10 years, he is yet to be defeated this season (28 wins, four draws), his team is among the Europa League’s last 16 teams, and he is a Liverpool legend – Steven Gerrard.

The Merseyside-born midfielder started his coaching career in Liverpool U19’s before deciding to try himself in Glasgow – taking over the struggling Rangers, who spent the last couple of seasons in the 4th, 3rd, and 2nd Scottish league. The management risked with an inexperienced Gerrard and it paid off, they are champions.

And while he is becoming a legend in another club, his former one is in the middle of one of the worst crises in Liverpool’s long history. Current manager Jurgen Klopp has already admitted the title race is over, and the Champion League’s spot is also under serious threat. So, it’s easy to understand why some Liverpool fans are turning their heads to the mountains of Scotland….

We have one of the best managers leading our club at the minute. I love him. We hope he stays for a few more years – I’ve got a job here, I don’t think it's helpful to talk about this – I hope Jurgen stays at Liverpool for many years“ said Gerrard to ITV, regarding his possible switch to Anfield.

And former Liverpool midfielder showed his maturity and respect to another colleague by refusing any additional stories about a possible coach switch. „Steve Ge“ knows he has a lot to learn before eventually taking over his boyhood club, but it’s hard to ignore the possibility.

704 matches for Liverpool in all competition, 186 goals, and 144 assists, FA Cups in 2001 and 2006, League Cups in 2001, 2003, 2012, Champions League in 2005, UEFA Cup in 2001….he won it all as a player, but he is still humble while talking about Gerrard as a manager.

Liverpool is my club… is it a dream for me to one day be the Liverpool manager? Yes, it is. But not yet and who’s to say I’ll ever be good enough? There’s a lot of managers on this planet. We need to respect Jurgen first and foremost” said Gerrard.
