Full minutes for Wanyama as Montreal win to move top in the East

Montreal lead the Eastern Conference with 29 points, same as Philadelphia Union but they have more wins and that gives them the advantage on the log.
Former Kenyan international Victor Wanyama featured full minutes as his side CF Montreal edged out Seattle Sounders 2-1 to move top of the log in the Eastern Conference and second on the overall Major League Soccer standings behind Los Angeles who top the league with a seven-point buffer.
The win followed an identical one at home just four days ago against Charlotte FC, the two victories being a perfect response after being eliminated from the Canadian Championship by Toronto FC last week.

Wanyama was however booked after just 35 minutes for a foul in the first half and had to play much of the game cautiously to avoid being sent off.
Seattle Sounders took the lead after just three minutes through Jordan Morris who was a beneficiary of a Christian Roldan pass.
However, their lead lasted for only 15 minutes as Sierra Leone international Kei Kamara set up Mason Toye for the leveler in the 18th minute in a game that seemingly promised goals at that point but it would only see one more.

Kamara and Toye combined again slightly after the hour mark to see the latter bag his brace in the game and give Montreal the lead for the first time in the game, a lead that they went on to hold on to the last minute.
Up next for Montreal is another away fixture to LA Galaxy next week on Tuesday.
