The Partenopei confirm that the permanent move is only a matter of time
Rasmus Hojlund's permanent move from Manchester United to Napoli is no longer a question of if, but when.
According to sporting director Giovanni Manna, the deal is now a "formality".
The 22-year-old Dane, who arrived in Naples on loan after his £72m switch from Atalanta to United, has already delivered nine goals and silverware, lifting the Italian Super Cup. His recent Instagram post said it all: "What a great decision looks like."
Napoli included an obligation to buy worth £38m, triggered if they qualify for the Champions League - a target well within reach as Antonio Conte's side currently sit third in Serie A.
"We did everything to sign him," Manna told Corriere dello Sport. "Bigger clubs were interested, but his desire made the difference."
Marginalised at Old Trafford after the arrivals of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, Hojlund has found clarity, goals and belonging in Italy.
"The player already feels like a Napoli player," Manna added. "And so do we."
The rest, as Napoli sees it, is just paperwork.
