Wandera has four goals against his name

After forfeiting the brace garnered against Zoo FC, towering Nzoia Sugar centre back Gabriel Wandera will be seeking to regain his tally and hit double digits in the remaining rounds.

Wandera who is the highest scoring defender in the league has four goals against his name but initially had six before Zoo were axed from the league over match fixing allegations.

The former Tusker man who returned to Nzoia a season ago lamented over the deprived goals but promised to recover when the league resumes next week and keep the fire burning.

The sugar millers who are winless in their last five league matches are set to host a struggling Vihiga United in their next match at the Sudi Stadium.

It was unfortunate to be deprived of the two goals after Zoo were relegated. The decision did not however kill my resolve to hit double digits at the end of the season. I have never doubted by ability to pounce on aerial balls and penalty taking skills,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wandera who is in his final six months at the club said he was anticipating for mouthwatering offers in the summer transfer window. The defender revealed that the high-flying Bidco United had expressed interests in his signature in the February transfer window but the two clubs failed to reach consensus.

Additionally, the defender claimed that Tusker had tried to re-sign him after impressing in the first leg of the season.

“I would have left Nzoia in February but the management was not interested in negotiating with Bidco who had tabled an offer. Tusker were also keen to bring me back to Ruaraka but the talks stalled. I am expecting more offers when the season ends if my performance is anything to go by,” he stated.
