The military side proved too strong for the former FKF Premier League outfit as they found the back of the net through a brace by Paul Okoth and Edward Odhiambo, and a goal apiece by Bill Okite, Stephen Nyongesa and Boniface Muchiri.

The match handed Ulinzi their second win of 2026, which have both come in the Mozzart Bet Cup, having failed to secure victory in the league this year.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport after the match, Onyiso explained why it was important for them to hammer Zoo.

“It was so important for us to secure the win and do so with a big margin. We have been struggling in the league, especially on the attacking front, which now leaves us fighting relegation.

It was therefore really important that we get our players on the scoresheet so that we can build their confidence and also find the scoring touch that we can now hopefully transfer to the league,” said Onyiso.

The former Harambee Stars custodian was particularly delighted with Okoth, who ended his nine-game goal drought.

“Paul is our best striker at the moment, and his goal drought has really affected us. I hope that he picks up from here and bangs goals in the league to help the team.”

With qualification to the round of 16, the title race continues to heat up, with Onyiso hopeful that the 2010 league champions will emerge victorious.

“We are not doing well in the league and are on a mission to retain our league status. This cup, therefore, is our only realistic chance for a title after a long time, but again, we are taking one game at a time,” he remarked.

Next up for Ulinzi is a clash against Gor Mahia on Sunday, 15 March at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
