Nyaberi’s appointment comes weeks after Mozzart Sport reported that the Kirinyaga-based club was keen on securing his services, as part of efforts to stabilise and strengthen the team.
In a statement released by the club, Fortune announced the start of what they termed “a new era,” unveiling Nyaberi as head coach with immediate effect.
“Fortune Sacco Football Club is pleased to officially announce the appointment of Mr Vincent Nyaberi as the club’s new head coach, effective immediately,” read part of the statement.
Nyaberi, a former captain of both Shabana FC and Thika United, brings vast experience both as a player and coach.
He has previously served on the technical benches of Mara Sugar, Mully Children Family (MCF) FC, Thika United and Shabana, earning a reputation as a disciplined tactician with a strong football philosophy.
He is also widely credited for masterminding Murang'a Seal's historic promotion to the Kenya Premier League, a feat achieved against considerable odds.
Although the club has not publicly disclosed details of his contract, Mozzart Sport understands that Nyaberi has signed a two-year deal, renewable based on performance.
The CAF B licence holder will be assisted by Francis Kimani.
Nyaberi joins Fortune after recently working with fellow NSL side MCF and fills the void left following the tragic passing of former head coach Sylvester Odero.
The club has spent the past few weeks conducting an extensive recruitment process that attracted over 20 applications.
Ultimately, Fortune settled on Nyaberi, with insiders citing his strong track record in the NSL and proven ability to elevate teams as key factors behind the decision.
The new coach is set to take charge of his first match when Fortune Sacco host FC Talanta in a midweek league encounter.
