Former Naivas coach Jeff Maina hunting for new home

Maina has gone through the KNVB coaching system

Former Mathare United and Naivas head coach Jeff Maina is bidding to return to the touchline soon after more than six months in the cold.

Maina has been out of the trade since parting ways with National Super League Naivas in August last year under unclear circumstances.

The KNVB-trained gaffer helped the club gain promotion to the second tier two years ago but it is understood that he left after disagreeing with the management.

After exiting the shoppers, the club promoted Ajastine Okoba who served as Maina's assistant to the rank of head coach.

Maina, says, he has enjoyed sufficient rest and the time is ripe for him to return to the touchline either, in the top flight or the second tier.

"I am hoping to get back to what I do best. I have had time to reflect and rest and hopefully, I will secure employment soon. I wouldn't mind coaching in the top or second tiers," he said.

Besides taking a rest, the CAF B coaching license holder has been sparing time to coach budding footballers at the Eastleigh-based Airbase Academy.

" I have been handling kids for the past months although not on commercial terms. I was requested to help nurture them and I can confidently, say that their futures are bright," he disclosed.

Maina, has previously coached Postbank, Mathare Youth, Bidco United, and Kangemi All-Stars.
