Striker Pius Wangi joined FUFA Big League side Wakiso Giants as a free agent from Kakamega Homeboyz,” Rajuba posted.

Wangi, who arrives at the Purple Sharks as a free agent, parted ways with Homeboyz in August following the expiry of his contract.

The Kakamega-based side, commonly referred to as Abana Beingo, opted not to renew his contract, ending a short but eventful stint with the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup champions.

The forward’s spell in the FKF Premier League saw him net twice for Homeboyz, first in a 2-2 draw against Tusker FC and later in a narrow 1-0 victory over FC Talanta.

Despite limited appearances, his performances offered glimpses of his attacking prowess.

For Wangi, the move marks a return to familiar territory. The striker previously featured prominently in the Ugandan topflight, turning out for SC Villa, Mbarara City, and Vipers SC.

Notably, he was part of the Vipers squad that clinched the Uganda Premier League title, an achievement that remains one of the highlights of his career.

At Wakiso Giants, Wangi is expected to inject experience and depth into the club’s frontline as they seek to challenge for an immediate comeback after facing the chop last season.

His return is also viewed as a homecoming, rekindling ties with Ugandan football fans who followed his earlier exploits.

The Purple Sharks, known for their vibrant attacking play, will be hoping that the 27-year-old rediscover his scoring touch and help steer the club’s ambitions to gain promotion back to the Ugandan top-tier.
