The new-look committees build on the union’s initial foundation and bring together a wider pool of experienced administrators, technical experts and stakeholders from across the continent as ABSU seeks to strengthen its structures and expand its reach.

Ouko, alongside Vivian Oray, has been appointed to the Women and Youth Development Committee, which will be chaired by Peggy Freminot of Seychelles, with Melody Scullard of South Africa serving as vice chairperson.

Meanwhile, Mombasa-based administrator Twaher Abdul Karim has been named to the influential Finance Committee.

Ouko, a former Harambee Starlets and Kenya beach soccer international, continues to play a significant role within the sport’s leadership structures.

She serves as the Second Vice President of ABSU – East Zone, chairs the Women’s Committee within the Union and leads the Pro Active Legends Initiative, which focuses on organising beach soccer tournaments and development programmes in Kenya.

Beyond beach soccer, she is also the Vice President of the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (KEFWA) and a member of CAF’s Women’s Football Committee.

Abdul Karim, commonly known as Hon. Twaher Abdulkarim, has been instrumental in the growth of beach soccer along the Kenyan coast.

He serves as a member of the ABSU – East Zone Executive Body and now joins the Finance Committee, bringing his administrative experience to the Union’s financial oversight.

Locally, he is the patron of Kilifi Beach Soccer Club and the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Shella Ward in Malindi, where he has consistently supported and sponsored grassroots tournaments.

The appointments reflect ABSU’s commitment to continuity, institutional strengthening and improved delivery of its strategic objectives.

The move follows resolutions from the ABSU 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM), where members agreed on the need to refine and reinforce committee structures to better support the Union’s expanding calendar of competitions, development programmes and stakeholder engagements.

The ABSU Secretariat will be led by General Secretary Taye Olajide of Nigeria, assisted by Deputy General Secretary Gordon Masondo of South Africa and Administration Secretary Ola Rasheed Saraki of Nigeria.

ABSU President Mahmud Hadejia said the restructured committees mark a crucial step in shaping the future of beach soccer across the continent.

The re-establishment of these Standing Committees represents a defining step in our journey to build a structured and sustainable beach soccer ecosystem across Africa.

With the depth of expertise and continental representation within these committees, ABSU is now better positioned to deliver impactful programmes, strengthen governance and create clear pathways for growth from grassroots to the highest levels of the game,” he said.
