Kipkirui, who turned out for Gor Mahia between 2018 and 2021, was hospitalised after suffering a head-related illness and stayed in hospital for a few weeks.

The former Zoo FC striker recounted the events on Tuesday, 22 April 2025 when he went for training just around his Kiptoboiti home in the outskirts of Kericho town, where the illness first struck and was rushed to hospital by friends and family.

“I tried to push through, but it got worse. I was taken to Siloam hospital in Kericho, where they did a head CT scan, and the results were out🥺😔 I had experienced a brain haemorrhage,” reads part of a Facebook post by Kipkirui.

The doctors at Siloam found his condition to be delicate and referred him to a better facility that could better handle his situation.

“I was immediately referred to Tophill Hospital in Eldoret, where I stayed until I recovered,” he added.

With the 29-year-old now out of danger, he took time to send his appreciation to the Almighty and all who supported him in his treatment and recovery journey.

“I want to take this chance to thank God, my family, my friends, my fans and everyone for their love, prayers and support that you gave me when I was unwell,” he remarked.

In his message of gratitude, the former Nairobi City Stars man sent special appreciation to his doctors, wife and his former teams.

“Special thanks to the team at Tophill Hospital, Eldoret, led by my neurosurgeon, Dr. F. Koech, my doctors- Dr. Kevin, Dr. Mwadime and the whole team. May God bless you.

To my wife, words can never express how grateful I am. Thank you for being by my side during the most difficult season of my life.
