Former Barca man dreams of Real Madrid

He was let go from Nou Cam too easily and is now shining in Bayer Leverkusen

Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente forgot about Isco, he ignored Betis' best player, but that's why he didn't miss the good games of Alejandro Garcia, Rodrigo Riquelme, Alex Remiro and Alejandro Grimaldo. All but one of them played excellent in their clubs, and the left winger of Bayer Leverkusen quickly became one of the most effective players in Bundesliga and as a mature and formed footballer will wait to make his debut for the national team. Alejandro Grimaldo should make his first appearance for Spain against Cyprus, but before doing so, he managed to "divide" Spain and "wink" at Real Madrid. For many years he played for Benfica, with whom he won nine trophies. Barcelona easily gave him up, Luis Enrique invited him to training with the first team in the 2014/2015 season and - wrote him off. In a transfer worth 2,100,000 euros, he joined the Portuguese giants seven years ago, and this summer he arrived at Bayer Leverkusen as a free agent.

He took the game to a higher level at the Bayern Arena. Xabi Alonso has found his groove and is more effective than ever. Although he plays as a left winger, he has already scored eight and set up six goals. But that's not surprising, because in the younger categories of Valencia and Barcelona he played closer to the goal, and Bayer’s game is largely based on the contribution of outside players. Alejandro Grimalno and Jeremy Frimpong came to the fore this fall.

There is no game in which Alejandro Grimalno did not play, in almost every one he was among the best on the field. This is confirmed by the statistical parameters in the Bundesliga. Very soon, maybe already next summer, like a good part of Bayer Leverkusen's players, he could move to a higher level, to one of the top clubs. And, as there is a possibility that Xabi Alonso will become the coach of Real Madrid, the Spanish footballer decided to send a signal to the Royal Club.

"Real Madrid is one of the best clubs in the world, if not the best, and it is the team where every player in the world wants to go. I am currently in Leverkusen, I have been there for three months and everything is going in the right direction. We have to keep working and we will see what the future will bring us" Alejandro Grimaldo told OK Diario.

The situation is currently such that Bayer is breaking records, having as successful a start to the season as Bayern led by Pep Guardiola. In 11 games, the club from Leverkusen did not triumph only once - precisely against the Bavarians, and they are yet to be defeated. They have 31 out of 33 possible points in the Bundesliga, and the only one more effective than Alejandro Grimaldo is Victor Boniface. The Nigerian striker has been named Rookie of the Month in the Bundesliga three times in a row, and everybody expected that Grimaldo could win one too. He is tied with Bayer until 2027, so if Xabi becomes Real coach and wants to bring in Grimaldo, the Madrid giant will have to pay a lot of money.
