Former AFC Leopards chairman, Alex Ole Magelo has passed on at a hospital in Nairobi after a short illness, Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku has announced.
Magelo had been hospitalized in the last few days and on Thursday media reports indicated that he had passed on, only for his family to clarify that he was in the hospital battling his life, a bout he lost on Friday evening.
Ole Lenku’s statement
The Great people of Kajiado, the Maa Nation, and the Country at large;
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the death of one of our greatest sons and warriors of our community: ALEX OLE MAGELO. The late Magelo succumbed to a short illness at Nairobi Hospital where he has been admitted for some weeks now.
Death has robbed us a brave and dependable man, philanthropist, football administrator, politician, and a dedicated public servant whose wit in matters of society enabled him to rub shoulders with the high and mighty in this country at different stages of his life. I wish his dear wife, Lucy Muthoni Magelo, his entire family, the people of Kajiado and Narok and Kenyans at large; God's strength to overcome the grief that comes with this untimely loss.
May our God Almighty keep his Soul in Eternal Peace.

Ole Magelo served as Ingwe chairman on two separate stints. He first took over as the Ingwe chairman in 2007 before he was overthrown via a ‘coup’ in 2009. He would return in 2011 when Julius Ochiel was kicked out of office, he was in charge until 2013 when he exited.
His reign was characterized by stability as he prioritized players’ welfare. Leopards players drew huge salaries and allowances when he was in charge at The Den.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
