Olivier Giroud scored two goals in three minutes to give his team a fantastic Derby Della Madonnina victory

Olivier Giroud has still got it! If there were any doubters to this fact of life, they should admit to their delusions. The veteran striker needed just three minutes to turn the Milan derby on its head and turn Inter's lead into AC Milan's victory!

Every Derby game is a lot more intriguing when both teams are after the same prize rather than just the usual bragging rights. That's the case this season in Serie A with both Milan teams in the chase for the Scudetto. And after tonight's result, Milan are genuinely back in the chase!

Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan produced a pair of notable stops from Denzel Dumfries and Lautaro Martinez as table-topping Inter took control of the Derby Della Madonnina. The French goalkeeper proved once again that it was a great decision to bring the former LOSC Lille shot-stopper as a replacement for the departed Gianluigi Donnarumma. But you need something going forward too.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic out of the game through injury, another Frenchman Olivier Giroud had a big responsibility to be the focus of the Rossoneri attacks. He would prove useful later on!

But it was the reigning Serie A champions who drew the first blood. Croatian wing-back Ivan Perisic had all the time and space to steer the ball from a corner into the net, with Milan defenders seemingly forgetting about the former Borussia Dortmund man. Inter were ahead.

Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali had a strong goalbound shot beaten away by Inter captain Samir Handanovic as Stefano Pioli's side searched for a leveller. Pioli needed to lift his side at halftime with Inter looking like running away with the title. Giroud was the man who was listening to his boss.

The former Chelsea, Arsenal and Montpellier man showed that his goalscoring instinct is very much alive when he slid at the far post to tuck a deflected Brahim Diaz shot into the net to make it 1-1. And just a couple of minutes later, the indestructible striker produced a moment of magic in which he got rid of his marker with his first touch before finding Maignan's corner to complete the comeback. From 1-0 down to 2-1 up in just three minutes! Pure class!

Inter tried their best to at least secure a point, but the Rossoneri held on to claim what could prove a pivotal victory over their biggest rivals.
