Footballers and their cars - when a problem is not that big, you do not rush to solve it

Well, when you have the finances Paul Pogba does - you can leave your Rolls Royce pounded for 270 days

Since the world of football started seeing money in millions - houses, jewelry and cars became an irreplaceable ingredient of the lives of most footballers. Many stars of the game brag about their possessions and like to post pictures of their "rides and cribs" and flaunt so the world can see.

An example of how having vast amounts of money affects the most mundane parts of your everyday life can be seen in the story of Paul Pogba and his Rolls Royce.

Pogba has finally taken back his 415.000 USD (45.5 million KSH) Rolls Royce after the Manchester United star remarkably left it in a car pound for nearly nine months, according to reports.

As per Sportsmail, the French World Cup winner was stopped in the car near Manchester Airport back in June because it had Monaco-registered plates and it was put on a low loader and taken away.

But Pogba, who is on a salary of 358,000 USD (39 million KSH) a week at Old Trafford, racked up storage charges of around 7,500 USD (820,000 KSH) after leaving it for 270 days, according to The Sun, before taking it back in early March.

The report details that the 28-year-old has been seen driving a 360,000 USD Ferrari 812 Superfast, a 370,000 USD Lamborghini Aventador and a 182.000 USD Bentley Flying Spur since he lost his Wraith Black Badge.

In addition, he was also been seen at the helm of a 160,000 USD Maserati Quattroporte, a 138.000 USD Audi RS6 Power R and a 55,000 USD Chevrolet Camaro.

Regulations state that cars brought into the country by non-citizens must be registered and fitted with UK plates within six months or they are seized.

However, his Rolls was spotted on the drive of his 4 million USD (440 million KSH) home in Hale, Cheshire earlier this month - yet Monaco plates were still on the car.

Pogba, who moved back to United in 2016 in a then-world record 122.5 million USD (13.5 billion KSH) deal from Juventus, is currently on international duty with France.

He has only just returned from a hamstring injury which kept him out of action for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side for around six weeks.

Yet he started and played 59 minutes in France's 2-0 win in Kazakhstan on Sunday as he looks to build his fitness back up ahead of the season's finale and the summer's European Championships.

Another example of such an easy-going approach to material possession where there is finance galore is former English prospect Jermaine Pennant.

He remains one of the more unique footballers of his generation, with his talent on the pitch earning him spells at both Arsenal and Liverpool, yet it was his off the pitch antics which most remember him for, and he recalls deliberately leaving a Porsche Cayenne open at a train station in Zaragoza.

Pennant played the most league matches of his career during his spell at Anfield, yet after losing his place at the Merseyside club he departed for a new adventure in Spain with Real Zaragoza.

"I had to take a train to Madrid to fly to Manchester to sign the agreement with Stoke City, I was going to miss the train, so I just left my Porsche Cayenne there (in Zaragoza) and left the keys in the glove compartment," Pennant explained in an interview with El Periodico de Aragon.

"I knew I wasn't going to go back, I didn't feel too bad to leave such an expensive car; I told my translator Fernando to go to the station and get the car.

"The poor man had to pay almost 500 euros as a fine, he was amazed and thought I was crazy for leaving an open Porsche abandoned."

Arsenal saw Pennant's potential as a 15-year-old when he came through the youth academy at Notts County and promptly signed him for a fee that would be worth around 5 million USD (550 million KSH) in 2020's money.

"I remember my first game as a starter with Arsenal against Southampton, I was only 19 and the night before I decided to go to a party."

I remember having breakfast at McDonald's, the worst possible preparation."I then scored a hat-trick, despite having a terrible hangover, my roommates called me every name after that."

Having in mind that Chelsea's N'Golo Kante drives a Mini Cooper and that Man City's Rodri used to drive a second-hand car, some superstars from the world of sports should introspect a bit.
