Following in Pavard's footsteps: Inter aim not one, but two Bayern defenders

Still, the Frenchman may leave Stadio Giuseppe Meazza soon
Inter Milan had a mediocre (to say the least) previous season. On the one hand, they reached the UEFA Champions League final, which can never be unsatisfactory. However, conversely, they failed to win a single domestic trophy out of the four they were in the race for.
The Nerazzurri changed the manager near the end of the last season, as Cristian Chivu replaced Simone Inzaghi, but they didn't make many changes in the squad.
During the ongoing transfer window, Inter signed five players, none of whom are well-known names in the football world. Nicola Zalewski joined from AS Roma, Petar Sucic from Dinamo Zagreb, and Ange-Yoan Bonny from Parma, while two players came from Ligue 1 sides Marseille (Luis Henrique) and Lens (Andy Diouf).
Still, the Milan club reportedly hasn't finished its shopping spree. Namely, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are tracking not one, but two Bayern Munich defenders on their radar: Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae.
🚨 Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano are two names #Inter is following for future defenders. The Korean could be an option only if Pavard leaves, while Upamecano could be an opportunity on a free transfer next summer. 🇰🇷🇫🇷

Nevertheless, the Nerazzurri will only go for both players if another ex-Bayern player, Benjamin Pavard, leaves the club. The Saudi side Neom and the Turkish Galatasaray are interested in him, while his former side, Lille, have given up on the eventual transfer for financial reasons.
If Pavard stays at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, then Upamecano will have the edge and be Inter's primary target.
However, until they resolve the centre-back matter, the Nerazzuri will have to rely on the players Chivu currently has at his disposal, meaning that the aforementioned Pavard, Alessandro Bastoni, and Francesco Acerbi will probably start as the defensive trio in Inter's new Serie A season premiere against Torino in Milan (21.45).
