He took it personally...
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick remained upbeat after a damaging Champions League loss to Chelsea, insisting a different Barca will emerge in the coming weeks.
Despite three straight defeats against Europe's elite - Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and now Chelsea - Flick refused to lay all the blame on his defence ahead of the Blaugrana's La Liga tie against Alaves at home this Saturday (6.15 pm).
"The experts on the outside have no idea how we want to play," Flick said. "It's not just about the back four. Every player must press - midfield, forwards, everyone. If we don't press together, we'll have problems. That's clear."
The German tactician is optimistic about the future, citing training performances as his main reason for hope.
"We're focused, we have quality, and players are improving. Pedri is back, Raphinha is back, Marcus too. We're nearly at full strength," he said. "Today's session had the intensity and dynamism we missed against Chelsea."
On his unconventional midfield choices, Flick explained:
"Eric Garcia can play in multiple positions, and we tried Christensen there too. Marc Casado and Marc Bernal are coming back from injury. They'll have chances. We have full confidence in them."
Barcelona may have lost on the scoreboard, but Flick's message is clear: he believes in his players, his philosophy, and a turnaround is on the way.
