Sharks, who started the day in 16th place, again produced a complete performance, to notch their second win in three matches, and finally haul themselves off the relegation zone.

Having made two changes to his side that settled for a barren draw with Bidco United last weekend, William Muluya was left delighted after Sharks broke out a 2-0 lead in the first half, before holding out to a third successive clean sheet.

The hosts took the lead four minutes after the half-hour mark through youngster and season standout Humphrey Aroko, with Steve Mbulere adding a quick second in the 39th minute to complete the revenge mission against the side that battered them 4-2 in

the opening leg in November.

The win lifted Sharks up to 14th place on the log with 33 points, just one clear of 16th placed Ulinzi Stars, who have an extra game in hand.

Elsewhere in Kirinyaga, Bidco United’s torrid season continued, as they stumbled to a 2-0 defeat to hosts Tusker at the Wang’uru International Stadium.

Stuck in the relegation mire for much of this season, the visitors were left staring at another loss early on, when they conceded an opener from Eric Kapaito in the 12th minute.

Things went worse for Bidco when Thomas Omolle headed in a second in first-half stoppage time, a goal that he rightfully dedicated to his unborn child on Mothers’ day.

The win for Tusker saw them climb to seventh on the table with 44 points, while Bidco’s impeding relegation to the second tier inched ever closer, with them needing to go perfect from their final three games to stand a chance of surviving.

At Kasarani Annex, fans were treated to a goal-fest as KCB and Bandari settled for an entertaining 2-2 draw.

KCB, off from a 1-0 defeat to APS Bomet, were first on the board through former Bandari player Francis Kahiro in the 26th minute, who converted from the spot after Brian Odera had been adjudged to have committed a foul inside the box.

The Dockers however found their way back 11 minutes after the break, when William Wadri arrowed a freekick past Arnold Monzobo.

The Bankers were then back in the lead six minutes later through Rowland Makati, before Wadri restored parity in the 68th minute with a rebound from a saved strike by Frank Ouya.

The point for either side saw them remain in the lowe midtable; KCB in eight with 42 points, and Bandari a place lower with 41 points.
