Brewers out to extend their unbeaten run to 12 matches as Vihiga United eye redemption
Tusker will be looking to open up a seven-point gap at the top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League ( FKFPL) table when they host a resurgent Nzoia Sugar on Tuesday at the Kasarani Annex.
Tusker vs Nzoia Sugar (Kick-off 3 PM)
The eleven-time champions comfortably sit at the apex with 29 points, four ahead of the wounded KCB and will descend to the pitch aware that a win will widen the gap between them and their closest challengers who are set to face Sofapaka on Wednesday.
Robert Matano’s charges who have won their last six matches will however be wary of Nzoia’s latest giant-killing instincts and confidence having silenced KCB on Saturday.
Despite the threat posed by the sugar millers, Tusker skipper Hashim Sempala is self-assured of leading his teammates to bag maximum points and cover more ground in their race to end their five-year league title drought. Nzoia are ranked 12th with 14 points.
“We are aware that Nzoia are motivated after beating KCB in their last match. We cannot afford to underrate them for they will be equally fighting for the three points. The secret behind our good run has been approaching every match like a final and we will treat today’s encounter the same,” said the Ugandan midfielder.
The match will see Tusker trio of Hillary Wandera, Luke Namanda and Vincent Ngesa face their former employers while Nzoia’s captain Gabriel Wandera will hope to prove a point to coach Robert Matano who let him go before the start of the season start after underwhelming performances during his brief stay at Ruaraka.
Since his return to Nzoia, Wandera has formed a compact partnership with former Gor Mahia defender Elvis Ronack at the heart of the defence.
Bandari vs Vihiga United (Kick-off 3 PM)
At the Mbaraki Stadium, hosts Bandari will be gunning for their sixth win of the season when they play Vihiga United. The dockers who are perched sixth with 19 points have rediscovered their form under coach Andre Mbungo and will hope to pile more misery on the league returnees who are placed 15th with a paltry nine points.
Bandari enters the match head and shoulders above Vihiga as they humiliated AFC Leopards 2-1 at the same venue while the former lost at home to Kariobangi Sharks by a solitary goal in their last encounters.
