Kariobangi Sharks vs Kakamega Homeboyz
Kariobangi Sharks will renew their fight against relegation when they play host to Kakamega Homeboyz at the Police Sacco Stadium from 1500 hrs.
Sitting a place and a point above the relegation zone, Sharks are in desperate search for three points that will increase their chances of retaining their league status next season.
The 2018 Mozzart Bet Cup champions head into the match on the back of mixed results in their last five matches, losing one, drawing two and winning two, including in their last match against Nairobi United.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, teenager Razel Omondi expressed confidence in the team's ability to remain in the league, while also taking time to reveal his role in the fight.
“There is no way the team is getting relegated. This situation demands putting in the work and staying focused. I bring to the team taking on opponents in a one vs one situation, and I will keep doing more. Senior players have been encouraging me to keep doing that. I am keen on providing assists in our last three matches, and scoring goals if possible,” said Omondi.
His sentiments were shared by teammate Steve Mbulere, who has been in fine form over the last three matches.
“Scoring two goals in the last two games has boosted my confidence and I am keen to replicate that form in our final matches. Playing in my position, the end product is the most important thing. The mentality in camp is strong belief, hard work and the will to fight. The character displayed by all the players has been great,” said Mbulere.
For sixth placed Homeboyz, they head into the match on a poor run of form having, failed to win any of their last seven matches, with five of those ending in defeats, including a 2-1 loss to AFC Leopards in their last match that left coach Patrick Odhiambo furious, especially with his defense, which he bashed for conceding ‘easy goals’.
The Mozzart Bet-sponsored team will be working to return to winning ways by completing a double over Sharks, whom they beat 2-0 in the first leg.
Ulinzi Stars vs Mathare United
Military side Ulinzi Stars will continue with their desperate fight against the chop when they welcome Mathare United at their Ulinzi Sports Complex backyard from 1500 hrs.
The 2010 league champions are currently occupying the remaining relegation slot, in what has been a calamitous season so far. A win for Ulinzi will take them to 35 points which, depending on results elsewhere, may be of benefit to their course.
For The Slum Boys, their win over Mara Sugar in their last match was a major boost to their survival chances, but would be keen to get over the line with a win over Ulinzi as expressed by defender Cetric Asango.
“The mood in camp is so high. We have not let our guards down just because we won our last match. We are all psyched up and ready to take the same momentum against Ulinzi,” stated Asango.
Mathare will be encouraged by the fact that they have not lost to Ulinzi in their last four matches, including their 1-0 win in the first leg
KCB FC vs Posta Rangers
In the other match of the day, KCB FC will lock horns with Posta Rangers at the Kasarani Annex from 1500 hrs.
KCB head into the match on the back of a painful loss to Tusker FC in the Mozzart Bet Cup semi finals.
The Bankers are ninth on the league table, and will be out to improve on their position in the standings, as well as soothe the agony of yet another season without a trophy.
Posta, on the other hand, are 14th on the log with 37 points, and will be out to build on their 2-2 draw against Nairobi United in their last match.
