Benson Omala was the hero for K'Ogallo with a brace that now takes his season tally to 14 goals

FKF Premier League leaders Gor Mahia took another giant step towards claiming their 21st league crown as they secured their third win in a row beating Murang’a Seal 3-1 at the St. Sebastian Grounds on Saturday.

Star striker Benson Omala was the hero of the day as he scored twice in the second half to see him go clear of the top-scorers chart with 14 goals, but most importantly, sent K’Ogalo 12 points clear of second-placed Kenya Police with only six matches left this season.

Midfielder Austin Odhiambo made it two goals in two early on in this contest with what was his ninth goal of the season, only for the hosts to claim an equalizer ten minutes to the break.

The second half was entirely different for K’Ogalo as Odhiambo won a penalty in the 73rd minute for Omalla to stroke home, before wrapping up the team’s 17th victory this season deep into stoppage time.

Shabana grind out decisive win in relegation six-pointer

There was joy on the opposite end of the table for Shabana as they gutted out a big 1-0 victory over fellow relegation candidates Sofapaka at Machakos to climb out of the drop-zone for the first time in a long while.

Shabana’s goal came 10 minutes after the break courtesy of Bryan Michira, who ensured Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo’s side extended their recent upturn in form to four games unbeaten.

Sofapaka, on the other hand, switched places with Tore Bobe to occupy 16th slot, and are now on a run of four games without a win, including their cup exit last weekend.

Muhoroni fall asleep in stoppage time

Other relegation strugglers Muhoroni Youth allowed two stoppage time goals from Emmanuel Mogaka to lose 3-1 to Bidco United at Muhoroni Stadium.

The result sees them remain 17th on the log with 26 points, two away from the aforementioned Sofapaka, who occupy the promotion-relegation playoff spot.

Sharks cash in on KCB errors

In another game on Saturday, Kariobangi Sharks scored three first-half goals to punish KCB 3-0 at Police Sacco Stadium.

Sharks, who last lost in early February, jumped to a bright start as on-song striker John Mark Makwatta capitalized on poor goalkeeping from Farouk Shikhalo to bury home a Stephen Mbulere shot.

Things got worse for Bernard Mwalala’s side as another combination of Mbulere and Makwatta on the right wing ended up with Julius Masaba poking home at the back post in the 14th minute.

Makwatta then pounced on another KCB error to cleverly chip Shikhalo from distance for a ninth win of the season for his club.
